Proof of concept fund
The London Development Agency (LDA) has invested £3.2m in four London Proof-of-Concept Funds, launched in March 2005.
The Fund will ensure that ideas and technologies emerging form 24 of London's Higher Education Institutions are taken to market, through spin-out companies or licensing opportunities.
Grants range between five thousand and 25 thousand pounds, with occasional larger grants being awarded in exceptional cases. Through the assessment process, projects gain a greater chance of commercial success and increased value for potential investors.
These proof-of-concept projects form a vital pipeline that feed into early-stage seed funding investments through the LDA's Gateway2investment programme.
The Funds are managed by four consortia of 24 London universities:
West Focus
Brunel University (lead)
Royal Holloway University of London
Kingston University
University of Westminster
Roehampton University
Thames Valley University
