R&D Grants
The London Development Agency (LDA) is pleased to announce that as from 1 February 2006 it is accepting applications to the Grant for Research and Development scheme on a rolling (not competition) basis. Applications may be made at a time that is most convenient to the applicant. We have introduced a rolling programme as we believe that it is more customer friendly than competitions. We aim to make a decision within 30 days of receipt of a fully completed application.
We expect that demand for this grant will remain significantly high over the next year and we strongly urge all applicants to ensure they fully satisfy the scheme eligibility criteria and that they are actually researching/ developing new innovative technology. Budgets for the scheme remain tightly controlled and only the most highly technically innovative and commercially viable projects will be selected to receive the grant.
We have allocated a monthly budget to cover a steady flow of projects, so applicants should not to rush to submit applications in the belief that early submissions will gain support. Budgets will be managed to ensure that the scheme remains available throughout the year. We have limited human resources and budget and if too many applications are received together we may not be able to process them within the required timescales. Inadequately documented applications are likely to be rejected.
We would like to remind applicants that the Grant for Research and Development is a discretionary grant; there is NO AUTOMATIC ENTITLEMENT to the grant even if you satisfy scheme criteria and have a technically innovative project. The LDA will select and support projects that it believes have the most merit, and reserves the right to prioritise applications that align with the technology sectors identified by the DTI Technology Programme, the London Innovation Strategy and Action plan or the Mayor's Economic Development Strategy.
